Krishna Nee Begane Baro - Remix

While I was working on my previous post, I had already started work on this one as well. It took me a little longer to finish it than I had originally planned. Krishna Nee Begane Baro is one of my all time favorite songs. The entire song is a description or "varnane (in Kannada)" of the beautiful & naughty kid Lord Krishna. The imagination and "varnane" of Krishna's beauty by the lyricist Vyasa Tirtha is just awesome. The lyrics is so genuine and fresh, such that, whenever I sing this, I always end up imagining the Lord in all his glory is standing in front of me. Music is conceived and composed by myself using loops in my Mixcraft soundboard software. Its possible strings / bass notes in some places may not be in sync, please remember its a novice attempt, using available loops.

The song was originally composed in raga Yaman Kalyani (like Pibare Rama Rasam). I took that base ingredients and created a fusion of sorts, and of-course added some of my own imagination to show how this little boy Krishna is not only dear to his mom but is our "Loka Rakshaka", wherein we chant his name every day during our morning, afternoon and evening prayers ("Sandhya Vandhanam") seeking his guidance and blessings.

Pibare Rama Rasam - Remix

After a break for more than 12 months, here I am again with another blog post. But only this time, its different. Taking inspiration from my buddy Arul, I started to rekindle my dormant carnatic gene and spent some time in putting this song together.

A beautiful Sadhashiva Bramendra's Sanskrit composition originally set to raga Yaman Kalyani. Took the base ingredients from the original work and remixed it in my mixing software and added some of my very own creative juice to deliver this final product. Please note that this is my very 1st attempt in doing a remix.

Therefore, all experts out there, please reserve your judgement; though, any constructive criticism is always welcome.

 Meaning of the Lyrics

Drink the essence of the name of Rama, o tongue. It will help you be far removed from the grief of the cycle of birth and death , it is the essence of all the religious treatises , the Vedas and sciences. It is the pure song that paramahamsa (signature of poet) has taken refuge in, it is the same which has been drunk by sages like Shuka, Shaunaka and Kaushika.

Vaanam Mela...

This next song is presented by my kids Sneha & Nikki along with their cousin Ram. What impressed me was their perseverance to get it right. An awesome composition by Illayaraja and sung by himself for the film Neethane En Ponvasantham. Enjoy the song and provide your constructive feedback to these kids.

Neela Vaana Odaiyil

Wow! Almost after 9 months I am posting this next karaoke. During this time, I made a trip to India, went through some busy time at work, and few other personal stuff that kept me away from my passion. Infact this is my first post since the dawn of 2013. I really need to pay attention and improve the frequency of my karaoke blogs :-)

I have been wanting to do this next song for a while but never had the time and/or the opportunity. A wonderful song from the movie Vazhve Maayam, starring Kamal, Sri Devi & Sri Priya. This was a blockbuster movie with all the songs becoming super hits right away. SPB has sung some wonderful numbers in this film for Illayaraja's music, but this smooth one was always my favorite.

Just as I was coming out of a bout of cold and cough, I happen to listen to this song and was inspired to do a karaoke of the same. Hope you'd like it. As always, any constructive feedback and/or appreciations are welcome :-)

Anisuthide Yaako Indu

Well, it has now been a while since I last posted a karaoke. Work related travel and an unusually busy music season performing live shows for my band Jersey Rhythms kept me away from putting together this blog. Anyway, here we go...

My next song is from a Kannada movie "Mungara Male". While I am not a Kannadiga by birth, I went to school in Bangalore and by that virtue picked up Kannada and infact have number of Kannadiga friends as well. That said, I picked up this song from my dear bro Raj who thought this would be a good melody for my show and infact I did perform this song as a duet (re-engineered by our band) and was well received.

I was really amazed by this simple melody originally rendered by Sonu Nigam and thought this would be a good one to recreate. Unfortunately the karaoke track was very poor with changing tempo. I have given it a good shot (I think), enjoy and as always provide your constructive comments.

Mun Andhi Charaal Nee

After almost 2 months I am posting this karaoke; well, its lack of time due to busy work schedule and partially due to rehearsals for Jersey Rhythms show in Jan of 2012. Anyway, now that I am back, I thought of doing this newer song from 7am Arivu starring Surya & Shruti Hassan. While I haven't seen this Tamil film, I believe it was a moderate success, much against the expectations for a Suriya starrer.

It was once again Harris Jeyraj for Suriya and this combo has been quite successful. Though, Harris's songs are very simple and sometime might sound repetitive, who cares; its feet tapping and catchy. This slow melody by Karthik is a nice soft song and I liked the way Karthik had rendered this song.

I think my karaoke came out OK, though I would have liked it slighly better. But let me confess, I became little impatient after few takes, maybe I need to get back into my karaoke mood to be patient until I get the required output.

Why This Kolaveri

Here is a song that has become so viral that it appears that this is arguably the 2nd most popular song in the world now.

While my role in recording this song was that of a coach and sound engineer (effectively assisted by budding sound engineer & my younger daughter Nikki) , this was sung by my niece, nephew & daughter (Prash, Suvi, Sneha respectively). It took them almost 3 hours to complete this song. Kudos to these kids for showing enthusiasm and willingness to belt out this catchy number from yet to release Tamil film "3" starring Dhanush.

I thoroughly enjoyed recording this song and so did the kids enjoyed singing it. We had lots of laughter and fun and I am sure you'll enjoy this as well.
